CHARLES H. SPIEGEL

Charles Spiegel was born and raised in the Bronx and has practiced law for his entire career in The Bronx. He attended Music and Art High School and the City College of New York City and received his Doctorate of Law from Brooklyn Law School.


Charles worked his way from high school through law school playing the piano, which he loves almost as much as the practice of law. Charles is a pioneer in the area of No-Fault Law and specializes injury claims arising from accidents of all kinds. Charles is a member of The Bronx County Bar Association, & many lawyers associations. He is the proud father of 4 great daughters and 10 fabulous grandchildren- many of which have completed their college education and are doing significant work around the country.

Meet Lucille M. Barbato

LUCILLE M. BARBATO

Lucille Marie Barbato was born and raised in the Bronx, and her heart will always remain there personally and professionally.


Lucille began her career in law when she was 16 years old as a legal secretary in a Bronx law office that specialized in personal injury cases. She worked her way through college and law school as a paralegal in that law office to supplement her academic scholarships. It was the ability to help people through the law that inspired her to become an attorney. She is the first person in her family to have done this.


Since 1985, Lucille has been active in the courts throughout the City of New York, especially in the Bronx, as a practicing attorney and trial lawyer specializing in personal injury lawsuits. She has tried numerous cases before a jury that resulted in 6 and 7 figure verdicts or settlements. She is passionate about the law, committed to excellence, and dedicated to helping the community. She firmly believes that all people deserve to be represented by an attorney who is not only knowledgeable and experienced, but also, kind and compassionate. This is what differentiates her and the attorneys at Spiegel & Barbato from the rest.

She also co-founded theirWomen’s Alliance Committee in 2019 and works regularly on their Community Cares Committee. Lucille is also a member of the NYS Trial Lawyers Association and Bronx Women’s Bar Association, who honored her in June of 2020 for opening doors for other women. She is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Competition, a Bronx Courthouse mock trial program for 7th and 8th grade students in local schools, and she is on the Advisory Board of Orange Bank and Trust.


When she is not working, Lucille enjoys cooking, exercising, tennis, reading, and playing with her 3 dogs, Cara, Bella and Antonio, who clients will often see in the office.

Meet Brian C. Mardon

BRIAN C. MARDON

After winning a great legal scholarship from the Bronx County Bar Association, Brian began working with Charles Spiegel & Lucille Barbato as a law-student intern in 2004. He was a Dean's Scholarship recipient at New York University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts. He received his Juris Doctor Law degree in 2005 from Hofstra University School of Law, where he received academic awards and was a merit scholarship recipient. After law school, Brian continued with Spiegel & Barbato as an associate attorney.


Brian was raised in the Bronx and lives with his beautiful wife, three sons, and daughter. He worked his way through high school and college at several local stores, including a Baskin Robbins, which motivated him to stay close to his roots and serve the community by fighting for everyday people when they have been victimized and counseling them when they need to know and protect their rights.


Brian was a Lieutenant Governor in the American Bar Association during law school. He is currently a member of the Bronx County Bar Association, The New York State Bar Association, and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He is a published author in the area of No-Fault Law and has had some of his trial verdicts published. Brian, as Lucille, has also conducted numerous educational seminars. When not in the office or the Courtroom, Brian can be seen around the neighborhood playing basketball or being chased around by his children.
